See, I told you I did something stupid. As soon as I got home I disconnected the battery and turned the key to on. I'd never heard of turning the key to on, but what the heck? After a minute or so I turned it off, hooked the battery up and tried it out. The ESP/ABS etc was still on.

So I got underneath and started tracing the wires. inside that front loom was a yellow/white, black, a green and a red wire. The green and red was twisted together and the red had a small stripe on it, but I didn't notice the color. I traced the wires across the front and they looked good. It turned out the yellow/white and black were for the left fog light. Just at the junction where the yellow/ white and black wires split off to the lamp, I found the green and the red wire completely severed.

There are about four zip tie kind of things holding the wires to the OEM bumper. They are hard to see, awkward to reach and there's no way they'll just pop out. They have to be cut. Once I got the clippers up there, there was no way I could see what I was doing. So I worked my way across the front, right to left, cutting the ties off by feel. It was fine until I got to the very last tie to the left on the bumper.

That one is just past where the wires to the left lamp split off. Sure enough in trying to cut off that last tie, I got my dikes down into that junction and clipped clean through those wires.

So a little bit of solder, some heat shrink and everything was back as it was.

I rehooked the battery, got in an started him up. CRAP!!! The lights were still on! While trying to decide whether to whine or increase my vocabulary by making up some new and potent cuss words, I decided I was going to drive it around the block anyway. As soon as I put it in gear and started backing up, the lights went out. Think I got him fixed.

So I hope some of you can benefit from my stupid mistake and enjoy your new bumpers. dkinglk, I was talking about your bumper. So far I'm happy with mine, but still curious about the Warn.

JK RUBI REDROCK and adaycj, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers

This post saved my A$$... Thank you so much for posting this! Though you posted 2 years ago, this was exactly what I needed today. Similar to mounting a bumper, I was installing a tow bar adapter (for pulling behind an RV) and severed one of the wires you mentioned above, I however was drilling a mounting hole when I hit the wire and did'nt know it. Why in the hell are these wires in the bumper anyway???

Thanks again!
