Default ABS Help

I came off the trail last Saturday, drove down the road to flat spot and hooked up sway bar links. When I went to leave, the jeep did not want to move like brakes where holding and I had very little power it felt like. After mashing the peddle a few time it would get going and was fine till the next stop light. Then had ABS/Traction control lights on. I then hit kill switch I installed and all was fine for rest of drive home.

I did a quick check of abs lines, track bars seering, etc. and all seems fine. Upon start up ABS/ traction lights stay on. I disconnected battery for 30 mins. tried to clear codes with my procal and no luck. It has not done it again, for the one I drove it after I got home.

Elaborate on this "kill switch" you are talking about. Also, I'm in SC as well. What part are you in?

Sounds like your steering wheel is not centered, or you have adjusted it enough without using a procal to center the steering in the computer. So, now even though the wheel is straight, the computer thinks it is not.

Mud/sandy rivers/dunes? I've seen contamination in a unit bearing cause these symptoms.

Rock crawling/anything with good articulation or tough steering challenges? I've seen extreme articulation damage ABS wires by crushing. I've seen a bent tie rod and also a bent drag link cause it. Your steering wheel will be off-center if either of those occur.

In all cases, using the factory provided ESP OFF switch was sufficient to allow driving the vehicle normally. For those who are unaware, it has three--not two--modes in 2WD. Anyone who doesn't know that would do well to review the elaborate explanation in the owners' manual.

Wheel is centered, drag link and tie rod do not look bent. I live around Rockhill, SC. Planning to head back to Uwharrie 6/27 if interested.

kill switch turns off your traction control, and instantly in 2wd/4wd, instantly. Just turn off jeep to reset. I use it 2wd when driving around town.

For that day, diffently usury! Thinking I stretched a rear abs wire. Hope auto part store code reader will tell me so I do not have to check all. The abs kill switch is easier to use for me.
