ABS Light.....Thanks dealer(please help)
So I take my jeep to the dealer this morning to get a new fender flare installed since mine was scratched by a recent storm. He tells me it should take 30 to 45 mins. After about 3 and a half hours I call and he tells me that there were 2 open recalls on my jeep and that he was having a problem with the abs light staying on and not taking the code. Well about 5 hours after that he calls me in and tells me they had to call a chrysler tech and they said the wranglers had a problem taking the code and he would probably have to find a stock set of wheels and tires to put on and maybe it will take the code. But for now he says its gonna to have the abs lights blinking and a warning ding. Well this is no ding every minute or so, this is every SECOND, I can't drive my jeep a mile now without getting a headache.
Im so damn angry right now.....and he says.....Ill try to locate a stock set of tires....be patient.........YOUR A JEEP DEALERSHIP. Sorry for the rant.

Then do something they didnt ask you to do to it and mess it up then give it back and tell them be patient I just have to find some duct tape.

If you have tires that are larger diameter than stock you will need a programmer to correct the computer for the new diamter size. I had the same thing when I went from 32" tires to 37" tires.
I was able to correct this with the use of a superchips programmer. This programmer will allow you to re-program the computer for your tire size, and allow you to run 91 or 93 octane and get more power but it also allows you to clear DTS codes that you recieve.
I highly recommend you check this programmer out. It sounds to me like the dealer over-rode any programming that might have been there to compensate for the larger tires.

Ya its just the ABS light, it blinks and dings with every blink. Its maddening. so I talk to the guys at the shop who sold me my tires and they said a programmer like superchips would fix it. But I don't wanna spend 380 right now for a problem I should have never have. I called another dealership in the area to see if they thought the tire change would help. He agreed that the computer is not recognizing the bigger tires so put the smaller ones on should allow the computer to accept the new software. Heres my issue, I just got that lift and tire on exactly a week ago and i dont like the dealership taking them off and puttin them back on. Its been riding great and the guys at the offroad shop did a great job and I can just see this dealership f ing this up and charging me for problems down the road.
The issue I am seeing though is that tire size has nothing to do with the computer recognizing the software update. You never got a programmer, so the computer has no way of knowing the tires are not stock. It sounds to me more like the dealership doesn't know what they were doing, or you have an issue with a wheel speed sensor from the lines being overextended while on the lift, or something along those lines. Yes a programmer can remove a code that is causing the issue, but if it is something like a wheel speed sensor then as soon as you move the light will come back on, and you really aren't solving the problem.
I would say its time to find a new dealership that knows what they are doing.
