Default Added a Vibrant Resonator to the AFE Exhaust - no more drone!

A little bit about me. I'm almost 40, I've got two very young children, and I don't want an abnoxiously loud exhaust. My previous exhausts were the flowmaster 50 and an MBRP Offroad and both were dumped shortly after purchase. After being on the OE exhaust for six months, I thought I'd try to find a new set up.

Our track car runs a 3" exhaust and to keep noise levels within regulation, we use Vibrant super quiet resonators. I had considered slapping one of these onto the MBRP, but since the MBRP was 2.5" I opted not to.. also it sold almost immediately after I listed it. I looked and looked and it was between the Dynomax VT and the MBRP standard exhausts for my JKU. Both were aluminized and both were $300-$400. While checking out youtube videos, I stumbled onto the AFE and after some research found out that it was 3" and full stainless steel.. and the best part? I was able to get it cheaper than the others.

First impressions were that it wasnt as loud as the MBRP OR, and it had a much deeper tone. And unfortunately like all the others, it too droned terribly. Lucky for me, I had a back up plan. I grabbed a 10" resonator, my sawzall and two 3" clamps. 15 minutes later, NO MORE DRONE!! I got the stamp of approval from the kids and the wife, and I think I'll be keeping this configuration for a very long time.

Here's a video of the current set up. You can search on youtube to hear what the stock AFE sounds like.

Sorry, I've been having trouble with youtube from my iPad. I've since corrected the issue. If you reload, it should open.

One clarification our DynoMax VTmuffler and system our both SS. Other than that congrats! A resonator often helps knock the tone/drone down a bit. Real popular on the hot rod/muscle car side of things.

Here's a shot of the resonator. It fits perfectly inbetween the braces under the body.

Another thing that I like about this set up is that if I ever want to go back to the throaty growl of an "off-road" type of exhaust, it's a 5 minute procedure to remove the rear section of the exhaust.

bkw...very nice work. sounds great. I just put on the 3" hi tuck exhaust from afe and love it. I kind of like the off road sound of it for now. If I get sick of it thought I will definitely go your route. Sounds goods.
