Default Adding limited slip or locker after re-gear?

I've just recently purchased a 2010 Unlimited Sport. Original owner replaced 3.21 gears with 5.13's when he went to 35" tires and 3.5" lift. Rear is the standard Dana 44 with open diff. I know that the gear setup requires a great deal of expertise, but how difficult is it to add a limited slip or locker? If I mark the mating gears on the ring and pinion, can I simply pull the axles and take the carrier out, replace the open with whatever I want and put the ring gear back on and make sure it all matches up the way it was? I replaced a differential on an old Mustang years ago, but remember little about it now. Any advice would be appreciated.

No differential experience out there? Has anyone added limited slip/locker without re-gearing?

Thanks,
David

As long as when you put it together with back lash and bearing preload the same as it was with the open carrier it should be good.

Only have it if you order the optional Trac-Lok on the Sport or Sahara. This one does not have it. There are two limited slip/lockers available. Trac-Lok and Tru-Lok. The Tru-Lok is the electric locker unit only available on the Rubicon. The Trac-Lok is "available" but not standard on the Sport and Sahara Dana 44 rear axle.

I have on my old d35 in my yj after I granaded my spider gears, I used a lockrite I.e. lunchbox locker. Not hard to do and it worked well in he old yj with 34 ltb swampers.
