adding tow hooks
Is there anymore trimming I need to do to add factory tow hooks to a non tow hook factory bumper, other than cut out the top squares for them to poke through?
I hope you get some good answers, I have the same question! I cut out one of the squares and found no level mounting surface. There is a little more plastic which is rounded and the only metal surface at that location on the bumper is like a piece of pipe. I have no idea how to mount the flat surface to the rounded pipe surface. Maybe the bumpers with factory hooks have a different construction?
I added the front tow hooks to my bumper, and yes the cutting is a PAIN.
However, I did not find a sawzall to be all the useful. Maybe if you had a buddy helping who could hold the bumper in places, but with just one person I could using a sawzall made it want to bounce all over the place.
Instead I used a drill to drill starter holes and then came back with my dremel and a sit-cutting attachment and finished the job.
