Default Adj. Arms - Top or Bottom

Okay, if you are only going to do two arms on the front to adjust the caster, what are the benefits of doing the upper vs. the lower?

I have read in the past that it is better to replace the lower ones, but now several companies are offering kits that only replace the upppers, namely the Northridge OME long travel kit and AEV supposedly going to offer upper adjustable arms (not going into the CAM bolt issue here; I think we have killed that controversy) The uppers are typically less expensive and less vulnerable to the elements, but looking for some sound reasoning on this.

Thanks.

I have always used the lower arms to adjust the wheelbase and used the upper arms to adjust the caster....so I would vote for adjustable uppers

uppers are just more affordable and normally what you would use to set caster or set your pinion angle. as mentioned, lowers are used to set wheel base but, for minor correction, lowers work just fine. the benefit of lowers is that they are super easy to install. uppers require you to hack off the passenger side frame mount bolt and reinstall a new one in reverse.

That is handy information to have before you start. I hate it when I start a late night project and realize I need a new bolt... I always seem to be missing the one I need.

Thanks guys.

Another reason to buy the lowers is that they have a larger adjustment range.

Regardless of which ones you decide to buy just make sure they are good quality, pay particular attention to the bushings and joints. There are plenty of good threads on this subject.
