Default Advanced Adapters Transfer Case Cable replacement

Hey guys,

So I was out wheeling a few weeks ago and when I went to shift back to 2hi at the end of the day my shifter just floated there. Turns out my cable broke right at the plastic connector, so I ordered the Advanced Adapters replacement. I was curious if anyone has done this yet.

The company did some videos on it but they did it all on a bench not on the vehicle. They also didn't explain how to remove the shift knobs and center console.

If anyone had any tips and tricks before I try this out that would be really appreciated.

Lots of stuff on YouTube on removing the knob and center console. Only have to remove the transfer case knob. I use a strap wrapped against it's self and then around something like a short piece of 2X4 or the like to pull on it in a "snapping motion" straight up. Be careful not to hit your self in the head. I'm sure there are a lot of ways to do it. Some say pulling and twisting. I don't have that kind of grip strength myself.

Good luck

I did this upgrade several years ago after having the cheap plastic clips break. It took some patience getting the cable installed but in the end was well worth it. One thing I never have to worry about. For the center console I recall that I didn't completely remove, I took out screws and was able to lift it up enough to get the cable installed. I think the e-bake was the biggest hassle.

Those plastic bushings are like $2 each at the dealer and take 30 seconds to fix. I've had a total of 1 break. Sounds kind of pointless to me.

Back when I bought 6 of the plastic bushings, they were 39¢ each.

Mopar Part # 68064273AB

Haven't needed one yet.

Hmmm. That is kind of disappointing to learn considering the replacement cable was almost $200.

I wouldn't be disappointed. You have an excellent product.
Every time I throw the lever, I wonder if my plastic bushing will break. I keep a set of those cheap paper coveralls in the Jeep just in case I have to go under.

I bought one also. I figured it was a $200 insurance policy against being stranded on the trail. Turns out I was correct - since I purchased the AA cable, I have not had any issues with the plastic bushing. So there it sits, in a box in the shed - just in case!

If for some reason that bushing does break and you aren't carrying a spare, you can manually shift the linkage with your hand.. not really a stranded situation.
