Default Advice getting a little more clearance..

Ok, guys need a little advice..I'm running a Rusty's Offroad 3.25 basic kit. Just upgraded to 37's and went wheeling yest., and ripped out the rear inner render liners. The fenders are already cut. The fronts rubbed at full compression, I'm thinking going with 3/4 coil spacers from Rusty's, to get a little clearance...any advice?? I'm very happy with Rusty's products!! I just rhino-lined the rear
fenders wheels..I don't have lower control arms yet, the jeep drives great!!!

The spacers would work fine. Also, make sure you have extended bumpstops.

Bump stops FTW. Spacers cost more, are more of a pain to add, and increase your center of gravity. Plus, they limit travel the same as bump stops. With bump stops, you can easily get the precise amount needed, therefore maximizing travel.

spacers won't do anything for you and you will still rub when stuffed. You need bumpstops like was mentioned before.

I agree with bump stops. If your tires flexed to grab the inner fender well (toward body) lift wont help

Yeah, you could install 6" spacers and you will still rub. You gotta extend bump-stops or trim.

Ok I need to know more about bump stops...

I have a 3" BDS lift, plus 1" extra added above the top of each shock absorber...

I am blanking out on the name of the spacers on top of the shocks to add another inch...

I'm running MTR/K's 37/12.5/17...how much of a bump stop should I have?

I am still running the factory fenders, but I will be going with Bushwacker flats very soon.

Name of spacers for shocks? You mean shock extenders? Possibly Teraflex brand?

Bumpstops have a sole purpose... stopping the compression cycle of the suspension. Many factors need to be considered when measuring for the proper size bumpstops. For one (the most obvious to most people), you want to have them sized accordingly to keep your tires out of your fenders/body. I don't remember the exact number, but I think you need at least 3" bumpstops for 37's and stock fenders (I believe its a different size between front and rear). Search over some of planmans threads, I believe he can spit out the correct numbers in his sleep. But, you also have to take shock length into consideration as well as other components which could contact during compression cycle. You have to make sure your bumpstops hit before your shocks are fully compressed, otherwise your shock will essentially turn into the bumpstop.

The most fool proof way of knowing the proper length is to cycle the suspension and measure what you need. But there are many threads I have read that will give you very close numbers depending on tire size, fenders, shocks etc. The overall size of lift really does not have much to do with what size bumpstop you need.

As an example since we run the same tires, I have 3" of lift and 2" of bump stop. I'm running trimmed with high clearance fenders. With stock fenders, you'll probably need about 4" of bump stop. With flats, maybe 3".

Even with flats, you need to cycle your suspension to make sure you have enough so you don't over compress the shocks (unlikely, but worth checking).
