Default advice on RIPP SC

I have an opportunity to purchase a new/unused (still in the box) RIPP Gen2 Supercharger Kit Si-Trim Stage 2 with intercooler for $3,500. The kit was originally purchased from RIPP in July 2012 but never installed or used.

When I contacted RIPP to see if any changes have been made since that model was sold at that time, Chris from RIPP advised that they "made some changes around that time in regards to pipes and mounting locations" and that it may cost me an additional $1700 to upgrade the kit to current standards so that it operates and functions properly, but that he couldn't be sure unless he sees the actual parts.

Will I be screwed if I purchase this and it needs to be upgraded, because I can't afford another $1700 ??

Will this unit not work right without being upgraded??

I was hoping someone would chime in with direct knowledge on the RIPP supercharger kits and maybe be able to advise whether or not it is necessary to have this upgrade, or if the kit will still perform as advertised without upgrading

Compare the pictures on the RIPP website, just an idea.

I run the same style of RIPP you have installed in a 2008 Wrangler JKU. What you need to determine is if the RIPP SC your looking at will work in the Jeep you have. if you have a 2012 or newer, there may actually be some minor changes such as: Brackets, the Tune in the supplied Diablo Tuner, and the injectors may be different. They definitely are different from the one I have. Do your research and you'll be fine. Call 4WD or some other cpmpanies that seel the RIPP SC's to get a better picture. I can't imagine there is a $1700.00 change however.
Good luck

I don't have the supercharger in hand because I haven't paid for it, so it hasn't been shipped to me. But it was originally purchased for a 2010 3.8 wrangler with manual transmission, and I have a 2009 3.8 wrangler with 6spd manual. my concern is that RIPP said that even though it should theoretically work on my application, they made changes sometime around the time that this particular SC was purchased, and those changes could cost me an additional $1700 to update to current specs.

i'm trying to figure out if this will still work without upgrading the parts or if those upgrades are critical and/or necessary

I run a Ripp SC on my 09 and That parts list looks pretty complete to me. The only thing I didn't see (maybe I missed them) is the aftermarket fuel injectors for the kit. Overall though it seems like what you need is there. I don't know what changes ripp made for these kits after they started putting out their kits for the 3.6 though...

Seems to me that another call to Ripp is in order. They said that you may need parts to upgrade it to the "current version", right? So ask them what the problem was with the old version. (since people were already using it, maybe it wasn't a big deal?).
