Advice on Rock Rail with Step
Hey Folks - Need rock rails for my '11 JK Sport tudor. The rails must have a solid flat step surface to assist my wife who has limited mobility.
The most likely product is the Smittybilt SRC 76638 Classic with step. Rugged Ridge also has 3" and 4" rails with a step, but this one may not be strong enuf to serve as a rock rail. Are there any other decent combination rail/step setups I've missed? Also, I'd like to make the purchase from a forum sponsor, preferably on the west coast. Thanks - Bob |
David at northridge is your go to man! He can set you up nicely.
But teraflex does have a slider/step setup. It's really nice actually. |
The Smittybilt SRC Side Armor #76633 would be a good choice. They have a step and three tubes for protection.

Just installed my Smittybilts. Super solid and the step for each door should take care of your wife's needs. Plus, you can't beat the price. Got mine from 4 Wheel Parts and they gave me a GREAT deal!!! Pain in the ass to install though! Get a friend to help and bring a drill, floor jack, and a big hammer. Smittybilt isn't known for their precision engineering:doh:

I have the SRC's for my 2 dr. I think they're great. Look good, I could probably lift my jeep by em if I wanted, never will tho. They were a pain to put on, I borrowed my chief's grinder to grind out some of the " U " where the sliders mount on the chassis.

Or Fab makes a good rock rail and can also be used as a step. No drilling in the body and goes on pretty easy.Attachment 180416Attachment 180417Attachment 180418

I have PSC brawler rockers, they make a nice step. And strong as hell.
Also the ace sliders are good for having a step and they are reasonably priced and stronger than smittybuilt. |
OR-Fab Rockers w/ Steps are amazing! Super beefy, large footing area and strong as hell.

Do not get the Smittybilt SRC sliders as they don't offer much protection unless you aren't going to do any rock crawling and just want them for the looks. The XRC sliders are way better and will protect your rockers however, don't have much of a step. Check out the Poison Spyder sliders. They are pretty nice. There are plenty of options just search through the quadratec catalog or google.
