Default Advice on running a winch/lift

My next planned mods are 35"s, 2.5" or 3" lift, Shrockworks stubby and a winch... will I need to compensate for the added weight of the winch on the front with the lift? i.e. lift the front 3" and the back only 2.5"?

Probably. My winch alone (Warn Powerplant) takes almost an inch.

If you are not planning on adding an aftermarket rear bumper, you will probably sag in the front. The Shrockworks stubby is lighter than some of the other bumpers, but most winches are pretty heavy. When I added my front LoD bumper and 9k winch, I was sagging in the front. But now, with the addition of the LoD rear bumper/tire carrier, I sag a little in the back. That's why I decided not to add any additional spacers to the Tera 2.5 kit.

I know some manufacturers offer HD springs if you are planning to run a bumper and winch to compensate for extra weight. For example teraflex sells HD springs to replace the spacers in their 2.5 BB. P/n 001853200 Northridge 4x4 carries them $100 each. I had to contact Teraflex for the number, no one had them advertised. Another forum member made me aware of them.

I bought the TF 2.5" HD kit with shocks,, it has front springs, rear spacers, longer sway bad links for the back, and correct length discos for the front. It'll get installed this weekend.

I called TF and talked to them about the springs, they said they were engineered to keep the jeep at a level +2.5" with their front bumper (100lbs) and a standardish warn winch (~100lbs.)

Hey John L, where did you get the HD kit?

I'd like to replace my front spacers with the coils if what they say is true. Since adding my winch and bumper my Jeep has dropped about an inch in the front.

Thanks.

I think John L got it from someone local. Teraflex lists the HD kit in their online catalog. I listed the P/N for just the front HD coils in my above post.

bly109 is right, I saw it on TF's online catalog, looked online at a bunch of vendor sites and found zip. I had my local 4WD shop order it in for me, it was 450.00. The p/n for the whole kit with shocks is 001251000. Plain vanilla kit is 001351000, with shock adapters is 001351200.

I was not aware they sold the coils separate, thank for the number bly109

Mine may set too tall in the front after the install, I don't have the bumper and winch yet, they will be ordered soon, I don't need to eat this month after all
