Default AEV Beadlocks and Tires.....

I have AEV Beadlocks and looking to put some new tires on soon. Looking at Cooper SST or Mickey Thompson MTZ tires. I've heard that some tires have sidewalls that are too thick and the beadlock ring doesn't attach correct. Anyone know of any issue with either of these tires and the AEV beadlock wheels?

Here you go. No issues other than getting those bitches on there. The rings are perfect. About 2k miles and no leaks or lost bolts.

Just be prepared to mount the tires yourself since the tire store doesn't want to mount tires on bead lock wheels. It's not hard, just takes a lot of time if done properly. You will also need a torque wrench. It took me most of a day to put mine on then go back to balance them.

Easily my favorite wheels ever. I have Dick Cepek Mud Countrys on my XJ and I LOVE them! You should consider those.

On mine, getting the inner bead over the wheel was easy. Getting the outer bead down onto the proper lip was excruciating. Had to have a helper apply pressure on one side while I beat the other side with a mallet and pryed with a screwdriver. Torquing the bolts was tedious but not difficult.

Walker evans here...but super easy install id say...I used a slight bit of dish soap on the inner bead to get the tire over the wheel, then put it ontop of an empty keg I had which helped pull the tire down enough and went around with a rubber maller to seat the outer bead which worked perfectly. It took me about 30 min top each wheel to have them torqued and filled with air.

My local tire shop is full of jeep guys. They mount my beads with no problems.

I have the AEV beadlocks. I do my own mounting and dismounting. I have a tire shop balance them. Make sure you use a reliable torque wrench. I had one that I thought was. I pulled the aluminum threads several times. I now have a good torque wrench and several bolt holes with Helicoils installed. I reciently bought enough Helicoil inserts to do all the bolt holes so I don't have to wonder if there are more that were damaged using the old torque wrench.
