Default AEV front and Rear Bumpers and install

Got my long anticipated 2012 JKUR about 3 months ago. Want to do new bumpers. I like the clean looks of the AEV bumpers...but are they worth the cost? Also I heard that any 2012 built after November 2011 was pre-drilled to fit these b/c of the COD edition JKs. That true? How was install for those of you that got em aftermarket? Any tips, tricks, or pics would be great.

I love mine. I received my 2012 prior to the CODs coming out so I had to drill my own holes. It wasn't bad though. They are pricey though.

Everything was pre drilled on my 2012 JKU Sahara, just put my front AEV on two weeks ago. The only thing you'll need are some extra large washers to act as shims for the front of the tow hook pieces (AEV knows this, WTF do they not include them?). Also one of the factory holes was not drilled out big enough and I had to enlarge it an 1/8". Now is it worth $1800 (Premium Bumper, Skid Plate, & Winch Plate Cover with Shipping)? It's tough to answer...let's look at some facts: I could have bought "brand x" front AND rear bumpers for that price! It's relativity light weight, only 1/8" steel rather than 3/16, could be looked at as a plus or minus... I spent $1800 and STILL had to buy shims! It'll cost ANOTHER $120 to make it winch ready! Now it was extremely simply to install, no big modifications needed. It does have a clean "factory" look to it which flows nicely with the fenders. The upward swing of the end of the bumper makes my TF Leveling Kit look like a real lift kit! USA made! Overall: the price DID make me gag, multiple times (just did it again), buuut I AM very happy with it. I'm going to eventually buy the rear, but with one kidney sold for the front bumper, I can't sell my second kidney to buy it at the moment. Although my girlfriend still has two of hers...

I started at Noon, finished up at 6 o'clock, no air tools. That's with set up and tear down included (tools, canopy, lunch break, some help from the gf and my brother showed up eventually).

Overpriced, you could have a solid bumper for less than half the money this bumper cost... and its not built to take any hard hits. It's very light weight and thin steel. Great fit and finish though, I do respect AEV for that!

No I have AEV gear myself, I don't hate, but for the price they charge for bumpers they should be bullet-proof or gold-plated lol. And don't bring politics into this, go get a twitter account for that or start a blog... This is a Jeep site... About Jeeps, For Jeeps
