Default AEV Heat Reduction Hood

Well i had my hood destroyed during the hail storm back a couple weeks ago. i got a check from insurance for a new hood and im stuck now. I want to order an AEV hood but i am not sure if i should ordered it painted to match or ordered it primed and have it painted here.
Has anyone had problems with it not matching or being damaged when they ordered it painted to match?
Thanks

I would get the hood in primer and have it painted to match. I've seen a few threads about hoods arriving scratched and the new paint not matching with an older vehicle.

i got $1700 for hail damage on mine - it was 90% hood damage and the rest of the dents can be PDR'd

I had the same thing happen -- my body shop encouraged me to order the one painted and then they said they would blend it with the fenders if they needed to. He thought that would save money in the long run that I could then put into something else if I so desired.

from what I understand there are slight variations in the colors.

I ended up having mine sprayed locally and it matches perfectly.

guess it comes down to how picky you are and if you'll be ok with any minor minor variation.
