Default AEV hood heat shield/pad

I replaced my Rubicon hood with the AEV model. I was wondering if anyone has found a suitable aftermarked heat shield/pad to help protect the paint from engine heat?

Thanks

Do you think it needs it? I don't have that on my stock hood.

yah i don't think you need it , however if you want it anyways then i would say just buy any normal heat insulation sheet (you will find in ebay) and buy the 3m 90 super strength adhesive spray.
Just cut the sheet and spray the adhesive on it and stick it where you want it

depends on what package you get. my Unlimited X doesn't have it, but I kinda wish it did. Not only is it a heat barrier, but it also doubles as a fire blanket. basically if it catches a engine fire, the plastic clips should melt and the blanket should put out the fire. Well atleast thats the theory in other cars.

The hood has open vents to allow for air flow, covering those with a pad would not make sense.

my concern exactly. strange they offer it on some trims and not on ALL models as a safety measure.

I doubt it would smother an engine fire, at least not the one that came on mine.
It's just a black porous material that's about 1/2" thick. Mine is already rubbed and indented in a few spots where it came in contact with some engine components. I can believe it would insulate the hood slightly and perhaps dampen some noise, but not much more.
As for the using it to insulate an AEV hood, you could probably cut it to fit the underside in a few areas that do not have the cut outs for air flow, and use some type of adheasive, but I don't know how long it would stay in place.
