Default AEV / Nth Degree 3.5" Premium Suspension System w/ 16" wheels prob

FYI

I ran into a problem today while having the AEV / Nth Degree 3.5" Premium Suspension System installed.

I was told by the company that it is written "somewhere" on their site that this kit will not work with the stock 16" wheels that the JK comes with. It does not warn of this in the instructions, and have not been able to find it on the site.

The problem: The conversion for the high steering draglink rubs (or rather grinds) on the passenger side wheel. This was remedied with 1 1/4" wheel spacers to the tune of $240 also an extra hour of labor.

I do like the ride and "YES" (before anyone asks) Front adj. lowers were also installed!

The hour of labor came from the parts manager having to drive across town to get them from the other store. As far as i was concerned he did me a favor. Might have been a little steep on the price but I'm OK with it.

I think he said $240 PLUS and extra hour of labor... so probably an extra $320 altogether.

Anyway... congrats on the lift. I absolutely love my AEV lift and I even settled for the cam bolts for now. Hell... my TJ had cams from the factory and I never had a problem with those. I will be getting all eight Teraflex or Currie Enterprises control arms eventually though... but I have bigger fish to fry first.

Eh, spacer price and labor still seems steep to me, but if your happy, that's all that matters. Btw, most lifts on the market require you run wheel spacers when running the stock rims because of rubbing in different spots either on the rims or tires themselves with some part of the suspension. I know it's a little late to say that, but I can see why you would be abit miffed.

I have a couple of questions regarding your installation:

What was the original quote for the installation of the 3.5" Premium Kit?

I understand they are short of some parts for that kit. When did you purchase the kit?

Enjoy the ride.

I don't think you were directing this question to me but I'll answer it anyway since you haven't received a response yet...

I installed the lift myself in my driveway. It sould take most shops between 7-8 hrs to install this kit (most will charge you for 8) so you can figure an estimate from there depending on what they charge per hour. If it's the first time a shop has installed this kit it could take them a little longer too...

I don't know what AEV's current stock status is but don't wait until they have it in stock to order the kit if you really want it. Call up David at Northridge4x4 and he'll take good care of you. That's what I did. It took about a month and a half for AEV to get the lift and all of it's components out to me but it was well worth the wait. Some of their parts are actually made by MOPAR so that was what some of the wait was for. It may be much less of a wait now too?

Also... Jim, Dave, and Mike at AEV are all great to work with as well!!! They can help you out with any question along the way and have great customer service.

Sorry for the delay... busy at work and stuff.

The kit was purchased and shipped to me in a little under a week from Northridge. I never have to wait when I purchase thru them. They seem on top of it.
The kit was put on and aligned for $450. That includes the high steer and JE Reel front drive shaft as well. If you get the premium kit with the high steer conversion the shop might charge a little more.
This kit rides great on the road and I used the procal to redo the speedo yesterday. Cant wait to try it out in Vegas in a couple of weeks. CA after that.
