I would shoot a few pics and email them to AEV along with your question.

From what Ive read the air box isnt touched with the aev snorkel. It just plugs into the existing intake so a lotof the guys will take the stock airbox out and seal it up best they can. Also if you havent already extend your breather tubes for both axels, tranny and transfer case. Hope I understood what you were asking

Well you really can't remove the oem airbox when installing the aev snorkel (I have one), but anyway, I wouldn't silicone that if I were you, you will eventually need to change the filter and itll make a mess it you silicone it. I siliconed my intake hole where the aev replaces the factory "snorkel" and the 3 mounting pegs in the bottom of the airbox below the filter.

Stupid question, but are you sure you've got the filter seated correctly?

Really? I thought Ive read some threads about people taking the airbox out and sealing up around the bottom and then testing the seal in the bathtub. Obviously you dont want to silicone the top of the box. That would make changing the filter a little tough

Good to know though as this snorkel is on my list of mods

Ah ok I see what your saying, yeah you can do that and just put it back it. But I never did that. Reason, being, if it DOES leak, it'll be a slow leak. And if it sits in deep enough water where the water pressure makes the air box fill up enough to cause trouble, you've got a hell of a lot more to worry about!!

I took my airbox out for the install. It would be really awkward to install it with it still attached to the intake tube.
Leak from the top is probably from that gasket. I think you can add some type of "lube" to the gasket to help with its water resistance. I left it as-is.
Vaseline?

before i had my sc my air box leaked. i made a o-ring that was 1/8 thick with a kit at work. pressed it between and it stoped leaking. now i am looking at bulding a air box that would fit between the Ripp Charger and my AEV snorkel. I don't like the look of the filter on top and i cant get the hose to seal properly as well

That was probally me. I took out the entire snorkel and the lower part of the airbox and put it in the tub to see if the snorkel seals leaked. never tried it with the upper part of the air box
