AEV. TF. RC. SL. Too many lift options...need help/advice!
 

Alright, the '08 is sold, so now it's time to lift the '12 JKUR. I know I"m going to do 35"s, and I know I want to go 3.5"-4" of lift. I've been looking at lift options for about a year now while contemplating lifting my '08. I understand the '12 has some differences that require a bit more when doing a lift over 2", which means my research on the '08 all kind of went out the window. For one reason or another, the AEV 3.5" lift keeps making it to the top of my list, not sure why, just a gut feeling kind of thing. I've read a lot of good things about this lift, but I understand it's a bit more expensive that other options. I've read other people are happy with thier non-AEV lifts as well, so I'm kind of wondering if it's really worth the extra dough for the AEV. My buddy has an '08 JKU that has a 4" Superlift on it, and has been really happy with it, though he's had to add pieces to it as he went. I really am not interested in piecing a lift kit together as I go, I want to get it done right the first time. I also am not really excited about lubing squeeky components if I can avoid it. Also, I am not a serious off roader. I live in the PacNW, use my JK as a daily driver, and want to use it be able to take my family out camping, some weekend off roading expeditions, etc...

So, I have all these options out there, and I've kind of gotten lost in the frey, if you will. I almost feel as if I've gotten too much information and have too many options. Now I'm kind of confused. So here are my questions:

- Is anyone running the 3.5" AEV on a '12 JK Unlimited Rubi? If so, are you happy with it? What all would I need to make sure I buy to make the lift complete all at the same time?

- Has anyone else (who is more experienced with lift kit options and differences) done these comparisons for a 2012 Rubi? What did you choose and why?

- Where did you end up getting your lift from? Is it better to order online, or through the shop that will end up doing the labor for warranty purposes?

- For the NW people on here: Can you recomend a shop in the PDX/Vancouver area that does good solid work, and wont rip me off?

These are the most important questions I have right now. I may have more as info comes my way. I appreciate any and all advice you have to offer. Thanks for the help.

I have a 2012 jkur and I have all the same questions. What about Rock Krawler?

Clayton, Rock Krawler, or (oops). Pick one you like...I like all three. I think the toughest will be RK and Clayton.

From what little I know I'd go with Rock Krawler at 4"lift for a JKU. That would be plenty for moderate wheelin with room for growth.

EVO also makes some bad ass lifts!

I have a 2012 JKUR and researched lift options to death.

If you want to do it right and not worry about it again pick up the EVO Enforcer kit with the EVO draglink flip kit. You will not regret it!

If price is a concern get the bilstein 5100 shocks rather than the kings.

Other things: you'll want to replace your front drive shaft with a 1310 from coast or JE Reel (or similar quality), skip the exhaust spacer, move your evap skid plate over 2", AEV Procal to recalibrate speedo, and with 35"s you'll want to get some C gussets. Again EVO has you covered.

As for the install I highly recommend doing it yourself. Post up in the NW section for a lift party and I'm sure people will help you out. The knowledge you'll gain is invaluable. Plus you'll save a ton of money. I did mine, with the help of another forum member, and had no idea what I was doing when I started

I installed my rk 2.5 max travel kit about 2 weeks ago and am very pleased with it. The ride is excellent with the bilstein 5100s and the flex is great. The directions were easy to follow, the kit is beefy as hell and the customer service is excellent. Give david at northridge a call. Prices are great and awesome guy to deal with.

You could spend a week reading through all of the different opinions from people. Typically people will recommend what they spent their money on because (1) it helps them justify their purchase, (2) most people don't admit they made a bad choice with their money, and (3) most people don't have experience driving and/or installing multiple brands of lifts.

Do your research and figure out what works best for you, your price point, and your style of wheeling. I've installed and driven the EVO Enforcer on a 2012 (not my Jeep) and have nothing but praise for the package. I personally know several people with TF long arm lifts who love them. When it comes time for me to move up to 35's or 37's, I will be looking to EVO or TF depending on my budget. If you really want drop brackets (AEV), you might want to compare the lift to Rancho's and make an informed decision about which kit is giving you better parts for a better price. Just my .02.
