Default afe filter?

I recently bought and installed a slightly used afe intake from a fellow member. My question is: Can I clean and re-oil the afe filter with a filter cleaning kit from K&N. I already have the K&N cleaner kit from a previous K&N filter in another vehicle.
Thanks in advance...

Shouldnt be a problem, all oiled filters use the same basic oil-cleaning agents. Just make sure you are not oiling a dry element filter.

i found this on their web site
4. Can I use K&N oil on my aFe filter?

aFe recommends that you use only an aFe restore kit to clean and re-oil your filter. This will ensure that the filter will be returned to factory condition upon cleaning. Use of any other oil products may void your warranty

which means to me that you can they just want you to buy their stuff

Yeah, they want you to buy their stuff. That's how they can manage to sell you the last filter you will ever use. I use k&n oil on my AFE filter and it hasn't hurt it yet. Key word is yet.
