I spent 10 hours last week scrapping, sanding, priming, smoothing and painting a 3 yo Rockhard steel plate bumper. The powder coat failed EARLY.

I should of pulled and repainted yearly.

Genright bumpers rock! Tough as nails, light as a feather, endure everything.

I bought the LOD Sig Series Bumpers that are coated in ZInc. They sent it off to a lab and found that after simulated 5years of test, that they didn't rust or corrode.

I'm sure this comment will get slaughtered but....rust happens, just really have to watch for it and maintain everything. With any powder coated steel it's not a matter of if but when.

E Auto Lite ebay special was black when I got them. It has been completely under water and still no rust on the hardware or the bumper itself

Lol, bring it out east during our winter and we will see how well it doesn't rust! Even zinc coated everything turns to rust here! The plus side anything aluminum won't rust. Here in PA I wouldn't trust anything less than stainless steal or aluminum not to rust otherwise it's as good as patina!

I'm with powrsurg on LoD's bumpers. I got the zinc-coating on mine and it is great, and I go to the coast a lot. I'm not so naive as to say it'll completely stop rust, but it is prolly the best base coating to get on a bumper wherever you live. If you get a good powder or zinc coating, then you can just touch up the welded corners and cut spots with a good bedliner and it'd be golden IMO...
