Default Agressive suspension

Whats Happening everyone? I was curious about different types of shocks and possibly lifting my jeep.

I want to make some things very clear about this question and exactly why I want to change my suspension. I am not looking to make my jeep conquer moab or even rock crawl often. I do, however, want to change my shocks to make my jeep able to go over bumps a bit faster. No thats not right. I want to make my jeep go over bumps faster without throwing my skull into hard top.

What suspension component should I invest in to have something closer to a teraflex pre runner minus the long arms. I am not lloking to run bigger tires/wheels. I am happy with 32's (ha no im not but when I get the money I'll slap on some 40's with a new axle but i digress). I was thinking a small lift kit with fox racing shocks, but I dont know how much of a difference that with make. Is the reason the jeep rides to rough due to the disconnects and the track bar? or is it the coils and shocks?

I am not looking as to why this idea is stupid, but feed back on how this can possibly be achieved. Thanks guys and gals.

Trust me when I say the JK is the smoothest solid axle Jeep. I have had a YJ and ridden in a few TJs and the JK is a Cadillac compared to those. You will likely never reach IFS levels of comfort unless you go long arms, speed bumps, progressive coils and good mono shocks. That said, I did improve my ride with a Teraflex coil lift and now Bilstein 5100 shocks. There are even smoother coils available. Good luck.

It sounds like what you are really looking for could best be achieved with coilovers and stacked springs. This will get you the "softest" ride over bumps without compromising handling. Do your research first, there are several companies that offer great kits and you don't have to go with a big lift to get the results you are looking for.

A good mid arm and shocks will change the ride for the better. I'm running the same Fox shocks in their PR kit and the ride is very controlled for a jeep. The ride is not harsh but very firm.

Awesome, thanks for the pointers. As far as shocks and coils go do you have any recommendations. I would prefer to not lift my jeep (or lift it a small amount where I do not need to redo everything else. Does anyone have any pointers as to what I should look for. I just want a more smooth ride and have the suspension able to articulate a bit better then what it is. Would you recommend reservoir shocks? What type of coils"

what speed bumps? are we talking about bump stops which arent rubber pucks and are instead a foam compound?

Again thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

You could do something like TF's performance leveling kit. A better shock like Bilstein/fox or even the Rancho adjustable's.

A speed bump is like a little shock absorber for the bump stop. Teraflex makes one. Also, reservoir shocks don't change the damping rate but are better if you go over bumps for a long time, like desert racing.

I'm running Fox shocks and the Teraflex speed bumps on a 3" lift. The speed bumps are a huge improvement for ride quality, you maintain a smoother and better control through rough sections of trail. My wife loves the fact that I no longer bottom out on the rubber bump stops.

Here's some videos that will go over the TeraFlex Pre-Runner suspension with SpeedBumps. Now there is a short arm version of this also.
