Ahh.. CAI, EXHAUST, CHIP, HYPERTECH....
I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and can't figure out where to spend it!! I've been searching for a few hours now about CAIs, Exhaust, Performance chips, Hypertech programmer,.... etc... It seems like for every person saying it's awesome, there's somebody that says it sucks!
Can somebody tell me where to start? I use the JK as a DD, and it has been off-road a few times, but camping, beaches, and light trails is all this bad boy is headed for. I'm running 33s w/ 3.73s and I'm actually happy w/ performance, minus a few times on the highway when the winds are kickin, but physics are a bitch. All I'm looking to achieve is an extra 1-2 mpg.... and I don't mind spending 200-300 for it. Any suggestions? (besides a prius!)

I am on 35's and a 3" suspension lift in a 2dr.
When I added the CAI I saw/felt a definate improvement in low end response.
It also growled nicely, which I liked and still like.
It was just a nice touch more peppy off the line.
When I added a flow thru muffler it LOST that low end pep but gained your 1 to 2 mpg on the freeway, but not in town.
I've never tried a programmer and won't at the price point they are at.
Be aware that a CAI mnakes you more vunerable to smallowing water.
The stock box is MUCH better for that.
I towed a fellow that forgot that here in town during a torrential downpour.
He hit a rather large puddle, no kidding, going a bit faster than is smart and drowned his motor with the deluge of water the big tires push up all over hell and back.
The Wrangler just sucks going thru water. It pushes water out and up and also in and up.
It will BLIND you.
!!!GO SLOW in puddles!!!

I've been running my CAI for the last 12-13K miles, and have been very happy with it... It's given me a nice little boost in performance. I just added the Hypertech programmer recently, and it's given me another nice performance boost.
Based on my personal experience, I'd recommend either in a heartbeat. Of course, your mileage may vary. P.S. I've also been in water up to my hood with my CAI, and haven't had any issues yet (others HAVE, though).
