Hey guys got an email on my phone saying 1 reply and opened to see all this! Lol. Lots to read. I'm on my phone at the moment so can't write a long message. I appreciate all the opinions and glad to hear your experiences. I was looking at a Smittybilt compressor for like $150 said it filled 35s. Not sure the output but will look up later. If it is good I might go that route because a cheaper compressor with a tank would be around the same. And capt do u just have it in the bag or mounted somewhere?

Will write more when I get home

for the time being, just in the portable bag, i didnt feel like spending the xtra on the tankand all. and i am willing to wait a few minutes longer to fill tires. i personally have not been in any situation where i needed to have aired up in 5 minutes. so for me this has been just fine

Found a decent comparison (both air and co2) with prices, fill times and temps and stuff. Don't know how old it is, but it's interesting...

hxxp://www.parksoffroad.com/prodreview/inflatortest/inflatormain.htm

At the bottom there is even a link to a comparison between one of the $25 compressors and the $230+ viair because they look so similar...

I am using a 10 year old Sun Performance QuickAir2 portable for the trails. A bit less cfm than the newer arb and viair compressors, but it does the job just fine. Got a ProRock w/ARB coming in a few weeks - trying to decide if there is a reason to get the arb compressor, or just hardmount my quickair and add a tank.

QuickAir 2 = 2.18cfm
ViAir 400 = 2.54cfm
ARB = 2.65cfm

The ARB is an OK compressor, the Viair is better, the Warn winch/compressor is better still. These are in order of air output, and cost.
What tires are you running? It takes me ~10 minutes to fill my 35" KM2s from 12PSI to 30PSI with my ARB.

I have a $25 harbor freight compressor also. It doesn't have the flow rate of my quickair, but it certainly does the job! (keep the cheap one in the rig around town and take the bigger quickair on trail runs)

I think we should do a comparison of two cheapies (one per side) vs a single $300 compressor (filling all 4 tires)...

Yeah like I said I don't mind waiting a little bit longer if I can save some cash but I think I found what I am going to purchase.

Smittybilt Q89. Quadratec has it for $159.99. If you look on the smittybilt site the cfm for it is "Q89 Dual Cylinder Air Compressor / 3.17 CFM"

Compare this to the Viair 300p portable compressor for $149.95 on amazon. It has a cfm of "CFM - 2.40"
or the Viair 400p portable compressor for $198.95 on amazon. Has a cfm of "CFM 2.54"
or High output ARB. $248.99 on quadratec. "...supporting a flow of 2.65CFM..."

I don't know much about smittybilt but they do offer a bunch of JK items and have heard good things about their winches and such, recently purchased there winch myself.

Comparing this too the other name brand models it is
1) cheaper (I like this)
2) Higher cfm
3) manufacturer of many JK parts.
4) seems like it would be stronger than a cheaper compressor with a tank and around the same price.

Overall I think it will be a good decision. Cheaper and stronger than most at least form my research.

Hopefully I am right!

And I hope this info helps some other people as well

Thanks for all the input guys too and contributing.

****IF anyone knows something about these that I don't and thinks my choice is a bad decision please, please let me know.

calm down dude, was just giving my experience with my cheap $60 piece of crap compressor that fills in about the same amount of time as yours.
yes, mine may not last as long, but it is getting the job done each and every time so far for a year now. but then again, with care, mine may outlast yours

i still have the box and will go check what the output is and it may not say what it is. this is just all my personal experience. thats what alot of this forum is, is peoples personal experiences with products, there are only a handfull or professional out there

i know you were not coming at me personally, but your post seemed a little intense there.
Sorry Captain if I came off that way. I was writing my reply at the same time as you apparently, except I type slowly and saw your post afterwards.

I do see that subsequent posts are comparing the output though and not just "it works for me" stuff.
As far as bragging about what I have spent, I don't. In fact my Rubicon is a mostly stock.
