Default Air compressors

Looking for opinions on air compressors and tools. I would like to know what's trusted and what to stay away from.

Default Air Compressors

Stay away from the warn 77459 single piston portable compressor. Maybe I was asking too much, it will not fill all four of my stock rubi tires without having the built in circuit breaker blowing after two tires. I am looking at a Viair 440P which will hopefully be more than I need.

I've been using a Viair 70P for stock Rubi Tires and it works on a 12V outlet with the engine running without blowing the fuse. Comes with a nice little bag and plenty of power cord. 15% duty cycle. $44 at Amazon.

If you need a faster compressor for larger tires, go with the Viair 85p or 88P (45% duty cycle) but you have to go direct to the battery and leave the engine running. Also they don't come with a case.

I love my Viair 400P. I use it to inflate my 35 x 15" GY MTR/K after wheeling. I've had it for around 6 months now, have never had it overheat or shut off.

I had a harbor freight compressor before, not recommended. It worked fast, but would overheat in the summer after about 3 x 33" tires. So I had to fill up all 4 partially and then wait a while for it to cool down. Hated that compressor. The power switch also broke (luckily in the on position). So I had to disconnect the positive battery cable to shut it off or switch between wheels.

It's pricey but I love the ARB twin compressor. ViAir compressors are good too. The single ARB is good.

I have been running a Viair 400C kit for over 2 years now. The only problems I have encountered have been with the line.
I finally dropped the money and ran steel braided air line everywhere and have been totally happy.

I use it for 35's, air horn, and hopefully ARB lockers to come.

Thanks everyone, Good info but I should clarify. The compressors I was referring to were for more for air tools than the onboard type.

you can use any of these onboard air compressors in conjunction with larger 2.5-5 gallon tanks to power tools etc.

My Viair kit came with the 2 1/2 gal tank. I have used mine with tools but keep in mind a tank that small is not
going to give you the balls you need to break loose some of the tighter nuts and bolts.
