Default Air filter and programer?

HI all, i wanted to ask if i install an air filter, will the dust in the weather here in kuwait still get in too my engine, because someone earlier tol me that some particle still go in. and if iam in the desert and its getting dusty from the tires is that bad too for the filter? Plus i wanted a filter to increase my performance a bit, and eventually il try for a snorkel. So what type should i use? what do you recomend? plus in kuwait our fuel is 95 octane, so is there a good setting in a programmer that will give me performance? What make? and will it work? Thanks and sorry for such long questions.

I think most aftermarket air intakes will allow more dirt/dust than stock. In you situation I might just hold off until you could get the snorkle, seems like a good candidate for your environment. If you do go with an under hood after market high flow filter, you can try and add a pre-filter to help minimize the dust (at least keep it from collecting in the pleats), supposedly they don't restrict airflow, it probably still won't filter as well as stock though.

Thanks for the reply. But what is a pre filter? and will it be real bad for the engine?

If you have one of those conical shaped after market filters, the pre-filter is simply a fabric material that fits over it. Go to outwears. com and you'll see what they are. As for being real bad for the engine, if you mean the pre-filter I'd say not at all, if you mean dirt/dust getting in, I'd say yes.

HEHEHE, but people who have aftermarket filters, when they go offroading isn't that bad too? or the bad part is the fine dust that's really small? And if i get the snorkel how could i close the K&N so it doesn't suck in water for example. Sorry for all those questions, but your given me very good info thanx.
