Default Air Helper Springs

I know some of you guys use AirLift and/or Firestone Coil-Rite helper springs in lifted JK's but has anyone found an air helper spring that can be used in a stock JK?

Would like to add the extra support for when I am towing the camper...

I remember reading about this a while back. I think WOL installed some in the rear of his JK. Seems liekthere might have been a write-up about it. I'll see if I can find it.

Regarding the AirLift Coils, you need to make sure that the shape of your aftermarket rear coils are parallel and not tapered in order for them to work.

Thanks. Surely there must be an Air Lift bellow that is already on the market that will fit in the JK Coil Spring. Unfortunately, the Air Lift website only lists them by car model and not spring size and they only go up to 2006 with the Wrangler. It would save me a whole bunch of research time if someone out there knew the right size to order. I came across one thread where the author installed them on a 3" lift and used the Air Lift Bellow from a Montero which clearly would be too big for my stock JK. I didnt order the 2006 Wrangler version because it is my understanding that those Springs are shorter than the springs in the JK...

I have worked with AirLift extensively in order to get what I got for my 3" coils and can tell you that they do not have anything for the JK as of yet. I have no doubts that they will in the future but even at that, it will most likely be just for a stock application. Regarding 2006 bag, they will not work.

So the Airlift would not work with the stock coils?

I was looking for something to firm up the stock ride when towing a camper

Not the setup that I got. If you know what the ID and height space in between your rear coils are from spring perch to spring perch, you might be able to find a set of air bag that will work from another vehicle.

Obviously I am a little slow on the uptake today as I just noticed you are the same guy who posted the AirLift project I was referring to. Props to you sir

Is it as easy as crawling under the jeep and measuring the ID and height of the springs?

Also, once I know the measurements, how can I find out what other vehicle uses these dimensions? Does AirLift disclose this info?

Thanks

You do not want to measure the height of the spring but rather, the space between the upper and lower spring perch while the weight of your Jeep is on the springs. Once you have these dimensions, call up AirLift and they will help give you part numbers that you can use if they are available.
