is it worth putting it on.... i have a 07 sahara do you lose or really gain any mileage or does it suck it do much cold air that it makes you waste a lot more gas??? my buddie through on a cold air intake on his car and he was getting 24mpg he called the dealer and asked they told him to take it off he did hes around 30mpg or so his car is not a jeep just want to be sure dont want to waste my money like he did.... thanks guys

snorkel if you're going to be running any water at all and it actually forced cold air into the intake so it's a double victory. CAI I wouldn't bother with since you actually might suck more water in with it and the performance gains are barely minimal at all from what I've read and heard.

I went for the K&N CAI after I already did the superchips and flowmaster 40 out the back. The snorkels just seemed way too much money for a piece of plastic, and then I saw a recent post where a guy was able to do a whole snorkel set up off ebay for $200. I should have done that.
But the CAI is cool - I didn't notice any mpg, but did notice a little boost in power (seat-of-pants factor), and the nice sound.
Oh, and I'm not fording any rivers in my jeep - mostly desert and a little bit of mud here and there. If I lived in a wetter area, I probably would not have done a CAI.

I argue that a CAI does anything other than make your rig louder. I have installed a couple of these now on different JK's and I will never do so again. I would go snorkel if your thinking in this line at all.

Man this thread sucks, I am about to pull the trigger on the AFE cai but now, i dont know if I want to. I have had a vehicle hydrolock and really dont want to ever go thru that again. I dont plan on being in any water, but dont want to have to worry about it either....Ugggh. Subscribing now...........
I had an AEM CAI. I totally agree with largo - sounds cool but doesn't really do much more than that.
