snorkel if you're going to be running any water at all and it actually forced cold air into the intake so it's a double victory. CAI I wouldn't bother with since you actually might suck more water in with it and the performance gains are barely minimal at all from what I've read and heard.

I love my cai. Gains a lil mpg, a throaty sound and a lil HP. I'd get one again. I have a mopar one... It's made by AEM.

I went for the K&N CAI after I already did the superchips and flowmaster 40 out the back. The snorkels just seemed way too much money for a piece of plastic, and then I saw a recent post where a guy was able to do a whole snorkel set up off ebay for $200. I should have done that.
But the CAI is cool - I didn't notice any mpg, but did notice a little boost in power (seat-of-pants factor), and the nice sound.
Oh, and I'm not fording any rivers in my jeep - mostly desert and a little bit of mud here and there. If I lived in a wetter area, I probably would not have done a CAI.

I argue that a CAI does anything other than make your rig louder. I have installed a couple of these now on different JK's and I will never do so again. I would go snorkel if your thinking in this line at all.

I added a snorkel becuase I cross water a lot. I did see some improvement in mielage, but not enough to justify the purchase. The extra mileage was just an added benefit

Man this thread sucks, I am about to pull the trigger on the AFE cai but now, i dont know if I want to. I have had a vehicle hydrolock and really dont want to ever go thru that again. I dont plan on being in any water, but dont want to have to worry about it either....Ugggh. Subscribing now...........

I had an AEM CAI. I totally agree with largo - sounds cool but doesn't really do much more than that.
