Default Air Intakes?

Hey guys, I was looking to purchase an aftermarket air intake to replace the stock one. I've been looking at some K&N's and the AEM Brute Force. Do any of you have any recommendations or first hand experience as to which intake is the best performing?

Try doing a search, a lot of threads on this. apparently CAIs are a waste of good mod $$$

For the most part I agree that they are a waste of good mod money but... they do help the 3.8's breathe alot better, that was the first thing I noticed after I installed the Trueflow XDI. If you're gonna get one make sure that the tube connecting filter to throttle body is made of polyure-whatever, plastic, rubber stuff. My experience with the metal tubed CAI's is that they conduct alot more heat than the others which completely defeats the purpose of a Cold Air Intake and your engine could possibly run lean or rich. If you do alot of wheeling and frequently make contact with a foot or more of water stay away from them. Some guys love them for the growl, rumble and swear they increase power and others not so much, personally if they werent extremely overpriced and I didnt have bad luck with the first one i'd get another just because the engine breathes alot better.

Any of the major brands should have about the same modest improvement. IMO go for the best price/deal you can find. I would probably recommend the AFE drop in above all right now, though for the $150 I spent on my Airaid I am satisfied.

I dropped in a AFE dry reuseable filter and also drilled a 2" hole on the back of my airbox to let in more air. I bought a 2" plug from a plumbing store for 3 bucks just in case I'm going into some water. I noticed a difference in the pickup for sure. I've never had a CAI but c'mon its a mini van engine, I really dont think its worth the money unless you plan on doing other engine mods such as a tuner or supercharger. just my opinion. Im happy with the drop in. for 50-60 bucks the AFE works nicely

I got mine used for $100 from a member here. Don't think I'd drop $300 though

This article over at JP magazine that I read compares different CAI's on a TJ. I have the AEM Brute Force and I like it alot. The dyno says it gives you HP to the wheels, so I'll take it.
