Air Raid install,, Squeal or whistle now??
I read about this before I bought mine. Well got it installed the other day,,and right at tip in on the throttle,, there is a whistle.
Sounds like a wheel bearing gone bad.
After looking at it more. The end of the throttle body on the Jeep, where the rubber intake section goes, has a flange cast into the Throttle body. Now first I had my Rubber section all the way onto the TB, All the way back. And that angle flange made a tent like gap after the clap.
So I backed the rubber section off the flange cast, and got the rubber section totally flush with the TB,, clamped it down. Checked all other sections,, have to take entire intake off to do this. Was very sure all clamp sections were flush.
Double checked again,,, On way to work today.. Yep Still has that Sqeal, whislte sound right at tip in on the gas.
Now is this normal? It might have done it less when the Jeep got warmed up. I will have to check that also.
I seen one guy on here posted about a fixx for the whislte after he had reinstalled the kit.
Thanks in advance.

I too hear the whistle in the low RPM range. I contacted Airraid directly and they stated that it is a known flaw in the Jeep engine that causes this and it happens with other CADs as well. Supposedly, only the stock air box/filter remedies the whistle. Haven't heard of the fix, but if you get it, please PM me with the instructions. thanks

Yea well it must be a known defect in the XJ with a 4.0, cause the "so called" CAI also whistles on that. As a matter of fact pretty much anyone I've talked to that has almost any kind of "so called" CAI has a whistle.
You must have young ears and running stock tires....... I also see that your selling your soft top. Young ears, stock tires and hardtop and im sure you can hear it.

I have a Mopar CAI and have the whistle from time to time. I always thought it was normal, I am guessing it isn't? I have read before that other Jeepers have the same noise with CAI. I have gotten used to it and barely notice it now.
