Air tank instead of stock jack?
I recently installed an ARB Compressor (thanks Northridge 4x4) per WOL's instructions. I like it quite a bit and am now considering adding a tank. I've seen tank mounts under the JK, in the engine bay, in the front or rear bumpers, but I don't recall anyone attempting to put the tank in the void where the stock jack is placed. I'm probably going to ditch the jack anyway, so I was thinking of different uses for that space.
Has anyone seen an air tank that might fit in the space? I'm not opposed to doing a little cutting to open up the hole a bit from the top end to slip the tank in if necessary.
Thanks for your help!

Bump for the after 5:00 pm crowd.
Would there be a reason NOT to try and put a tank in the stock jack location? Seems like there is some wasted space in there so why not fill that space up with something?

Maybe this doesnt matter to you, but it does to me.
I am an insurance estimator. Recently I wrote an estimate on an 08 JK that got tagged HARD in the rear by a dodge ram. That space where the jack sits was completely crushed in.
Not sure what happens to an air compressor if it is crushed like that....but I cant imagine it would be good.
Something to consider.

It does matter to me, and I appreciate your input. I wouldn't drive around with the tank charged. Essentially, I would charge the tank towards the end of a run to speed up the filling of tires when the run is over. I'd also charge the tank while camping for various uses (blowup bed, kids water toys, etc.).
Out of curiousity, did the JK you saw have a stock rear bumper? I'd feel a lot better with the tank back there once I'm sporting a LoD rear bumper.

Yes. The bumper was stock but that doesnt mean JACK when you are rear-ended by a lifted ram. It went right over the rear bumper and pushed the swingout gate about a foot inward.
After I bolted my tuffy security box to the floor of my Jeep are started having second thoughts.....but my wife said I can't live in fear.
