Question Airaid Cold Air Intake and Rain

It seems to me that my Airaid Cold Air Intake is taking on water while driving in the rain. Possibly sucking rain in from the top of the grill under the hood. Was this thing designed in a place where it never rains?

It came to 2 choices the Airaid or the S&B Cold Air Intake. I was not able to get the S&B Cold Air Intake for a good price so I went with the airaid. Did I just blow my hard earned $$$$

Has anyone experienced similar problems? is there anything to worry about?

I like the product It has saved me about 2L of fuel per 100KM, given the engine a cool sound with good throttle response and a reusable filter. but none of this means anything if I cant even use it in the rain. Living in Vancouver Canada there is no avoiding the rain.

Dude, I have had mine since my parents bought the Jeep almost a year ago and no problems to speak of... I've been in plenty of rain, ice, and lots & lots of mud and haven't had a problem yet

is there anything to worry about?

Don't know what kind of CAI my neighbor has but he drove through a creek a little too fast and his engine ingested massive amounts of water, hydrolocked and has had to replace his engine! I would think it's something to worry about!

i dont do mudpits or deep water. If i did, i wouldnt be using a CAI.

I kept my stock box in case i decided to go someplace that might happen, but i have no desire to go bogging or scuba diving. Mud destroys things and STINKS and I am not a fish.

As long as you take it slow and dont hit things too fast, it doesn't matter.. CAIs dont lock up engines, stupid people with CAIs lock up engines lol plus the Airaid has a cld air box that keeps water, mud, and heat from the engine away from the filter. Which makes it pretty hard to hydrolock unless you decide to play submarine commander haha

no prob with mine over a year, however as an added level of protection I ordered an outerwears pre-filter which is highly water resistant, you can see it in some of my pics. alot of quads, race trucks, MX etc. use these theya re great and relatively cheap for added protection.

double check your install and make sure your heat shield (stop laughing redneck) is installed correctly.

thanks for the feedback guys. It does seem to be taking on mist from the rain i am going to try the filter cover to eliminate this issue and see what happens.
