Default Is all auto trans fluid created equal?

Going to be installing an auto transmission cooler and know I need to top off the reservoir with additional ATF+4 fluid. Should I go to the dealer and get the mopar brand or to the auto parts store and get an off the shelf brand?

thanks all

I've used nothing but wal-mart brand ATF for years and never had any issues. I don't feel others do it any better unless you go with an amsoil/royal purple/etc.

The purpose of ATF+4 is to specify the minimum performance standard to which the fluid must be manufactured. If you're okay with at least minimum performance (probably no reason not to be for most of us), then buy any old ATF+4. Just don't opt for the other various automatic transmission fluids out there--they are different.

Yep I agree, however I don't feel Mopar would go above and beyond either. Just my opinion.

All of these ATF+4 fluids are created equal.
Anything else is not tested and certified equal. That includes Amsoil, who refused to submit a sample to be tested.
