I do have a lot of snow In the winters to consider though.
You already said it. You want an aggressive looking tire. Get a mud terrain. The BFG km2 is a great choice, and will last if you take care of them.

KM2's don't have any siping. My local discount tire charged $8/tire, fairly noticeable difference for me on icy streets. (not a huge difference, but noticeable between big tread blocks with and without sipes). If you do choose an aggressive tire, might be worth looking in to.

Went by the tire shop today and they were really pushing the toyo open country mud terrain and all terrain tire. They are saying to go with the all terrain.

I just pulled the trigger on the Toyo Open Country MT's this week. They look & ride great! I'm very happy with them so far. They aren't loud at all. No louder than my worn out BFG A/T's were toward the end.

Do you see a big difference going from the all terrain to the mud tire? Is there a difference in the mpg?

AT tire would be fine for you, your in the same boat as me, I've run BFG AT's for years & have been SUPER pleased, NOW here's what I also found figured I'd give the Firestone Destination AT a try & they rank right up there with the BFG as far as I'm consirned I've run them on my last Jeep & my wife currently runs them on her Jeep NO ISSUES what so ever in ANY weather & thier a LIGHTER tire compared to others & for 4 ( tire rack) you can save $$ compared to the BFG's about $300 for a 285/70/17

good luck in your decision

Default Bfg

Just curiuos on the BFGs. From what I can see the 285 only comes in raised white letters. Do you guys just turn the tire so the letters are on the inside or do they actually come in black side wall?

Most tires have a white writing side and a blacked outside, and you just tell the tire place what side you want facing out...

This is my first set of mud terrains & I was a little worried about the noise for a daily driver. They really aren't any louder than my BFG A/T's were but I expect they'll get somewhat louder as they wear down. They ride great. The Toyo's have a reputation of being very round & take very little weight to balance. As for mileage, I've probably lost a little but not much. It's hard to figure since I haven't adjusted the computer for the taller tire so my odometer thinks I'm going fewer miles than I really am.

Thanks guys.

I have definately narrowed it down between the bfgs and the toyos. The only thing holding me back from deciding between all terrain and mud terrain is the fact I have 3.21 gears. I can't really decide which tire will run better on the jeep?
