Default Aluminum bumpers?

Does anybody make front and rear bumpers out of aluminum plate?

The reason I ask is I just put steel rock rails on my Jeep. Together they added around 65 lbs to my total weight.

By the time I add front and rear bumpers and then a winch there's a couple of hundred additional pounds that I'll be lugging around. Not good for the MPG's or the springs.

Anybody know of any?

Try ASFIR, I think it might be made from aluminum...

Me too. The steel bumpers out there are all pretty heavy. I know a lot of people think that aluminum would be too weak, but I say it would be a lot stronger than a piece of plastic!

That is for certain about the plastic.

I don't see plate aluminum as being to weak for a bumper. I see there are aluminum skid plates and under armor out there already.

The right alloy of aluminum should be way strong enough for a bumper.

Besides, steel don't make bumpers indestructable, thats for sure.

I'd be willing to pay for a set of prints that I could use to build a bumper

The problem with runnin aluminum bumpers would be the hobos and meth heads stealing your bumpers to turn in for scrap metal and get the money for it... Kinda like peoples catalytic converters getting stolen...

Rat bastards.

Good idea though!

My uneducated guess would be that an Aluminum that is strong enough to be a bumper or a rock rail would be VERY expensive. Probably wouldn't sell very well. I would think that manufacturers have thought of that and played with the idea and found that it just wasn't viable. But like I said, that just an UNeducated guess.
