Default American Outlaw mirrors

I received my American Outlaw mirrors last Friday from 4wd and when I tried to install them, realized that they had sent me 2 driver's-side brackets. The groove and bracket were the same. Needless to say, I couldn't install the bracket on the passenger's side.

I called 4wd this morning and the customer service rep was very polite and contacted the manufacturer while I was on the phone. Although the mfr didn't answer, we left a message to have them call 4wd regarding our problem. I gave the CSR my number and hung up. 20 minutes later, I got a phone call from the owner of American Outlaw products. I explained the situation and he apologized for the mix-up. He told me that the company has been expanding rapidly and has had to hire some additional support. Well, the additional support hasn't been working out because of stuff like this, so he's dealing with it now. Without hesitation, he told me he would put a new one in the mail today with a paid return shipping label so I could send the incorrect one back at no expense to me. The service was great! It's comforting to know that there are still companies out there that go beyond what is expected to try to service the customer. Very impressed.

The driver's side mirror works great and I am very happy with the look, quality and functionality of the product.

I'll be sure to post pics once both are up and running!

Thanks American Outlaw and thanks 4wd.

Thanks for posting. It's good to see which vendors are good to deal with instead of just trying to avoid the bad ones.

I've been thinking about getting mirrors for when I take my doors off.

I've just decided which ones I'm getting.

No. The screws have a flat, thick, hard-rubber tip about 1/8" thick that is attached to the tip of the screw. The hard rubber isolator allows you to tighten the screw well to hold a tight grip, but at the same time, not damage the painted surface. The build quality is very good. The pipe seem to be black anodized aluminum (maybe powder-coated, but very thin coat), but the portion that goes around the hinge seems to be dipped in rubber, because the finish is soft to the touch and grips well.

The mirror is a fairly standard mirror with a very stiff ball joint to adjust the position and a rubberized surround. The bracket doesn't move or vibrate at all. However, the mirror vibrates slightly when at speeds above 30-35mph. It's not distracting at all because everything else vibrates (including my teeth)! It makes such a huge difference to have these mirrors on without the doors. After 3 years of driving w/o doors (I had an '05 TJ), I can finally see to the sides. Makes parking in the city much easier! They mirrors were pricey, but worth it, especially after going through the owner of the company and seeing the customer service offered.

Been rainin'. I'm hoping it's going to be a nice weekend so my wife and I (and the dog) can get out to the mountains. If so, I'll take the doors and top off and take some pics.

I have these mirrors as well and love them. Other than the slight vibration at speeds like everyone else said these mirrors are great and look really nice.

The mirrors are great. Randy was at Jeep Beach as Rooster said and I spent a while talking with him. He also went out of his way to help me... Great guy...
