Another 37" wanna be post
I know every one wants the silver bullet answer to running 37” tires with a Dana 30…..
I just can’t resist running 37” tires on my JK, it just looks right! But it will take a few more months before I can get a Dana44 or stronger front axle.
In the past I have had two Tj’s one with 33” and the last with 35” tires but I have yet to break an axle or grenade my gears/joints. I did shear the bolts in the rear but I was only a few feet from being back to camp so no issue.
Thus here is my two part question:
First – What type of obstacles can I throw at my jeep with a Dana 30 front, 37” tires and stock 4:10 gears? If I’m easy on the gas.
Second – What is most likely going to break on me? I want to try to be prepared so I can get my rig back home once it breaks (It’s going to be inevitable)
Any good recourses on how to get your broken rig off the trail? Books, articles, stories…

#1 Your biggest obstacle will be the daily driving, 37's-4.10 gears and an auto is gonna suck big time.
#2 Axles prolly first to go, that's why I keep spares.
Resources- wheel with some buddies so they can drag you off the trail, get AAA so you'll be good on getting towed.

I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer on what "might" break a Dana 30 with 37s. I'm sure someone can give a definitive answer as to what "will" break a Dana 30 with 37s.
Previous poster is correct: your axles will likely go first. From what I have read, AVOID wheel hop. DO NOT spin the wheels when they have any chance of gaining traction all of a sudden. Attemp to slowly crawl over your obstacle. Overtime following these guidelines will give you confidence about your rigs capabilities.

37's are killing my 44. if you are going to go off road it will kill your front end. if you are going to go off road much just plan on upgrading your front end at some point. get all you can out of your existing front axle WITHOUT spending money on it.
4.10's auto and 37's are not that bad for daily driving... honestly the performance really isnt that much off bone stock. I drive both my stock rubi and my modified rubi daily and really I dont get into my lifted one and think how much of a dog it is. I am sure if I recalibrated the computer for the bigger tires it would be even better. Just remember to turn off the OD unless you are on the flat hwy. That is where you really notice the 37's is hwy driving in OD... it doesnt take much to loose speed lol
