Default Another gear thread

Good morning, I just got the green light from the wife to drop off my 2014 JKUR auto to EVO for their gear change special. I am currently on 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers with 4:10s. This is my DD with about 10% mild to moderate trails in the So Cal desert. My question is 4:88 or 5:13 or something else. I want a compromise of fuel mileage and trail ability......

Do you have an auto or stick. I have a 2dr rubi with 4.10 and 35s. Runs get and I get about 19 mpg all around. If auto maybe 4:88 but will let those with more experience speak up.

Shoeless, we normally run 4.56 gears with 35's and the new 3.6L. You could step up to 4.88's and that would cover you up to a 37" tire. Anything deeper than that and it gets really high on RPM on road and hard to generate any wheel speed offroad.

I echo NR. I'm on 35's and recently went to 4.56 from 3.73. I would have been very unhappy with 4.88's on the highway.

How did you notice difference from
3.73 to 4.56 did mileage drop and power increase ?

This reflects my suggestion, too. Everything I've read on the 3.6L and 5-speed auto suggest 4.56's for 35's and 4.88's for 37's. From 4.10's, you will likely see increased performance in the form of torque and a possible increase in fuel economy, but I wouldn't expect anymore than maybe 1-2mpg at best. Ultimately....you bought a Jeep, not a Prius. Then added bigger, heavier tires to it.

I appreciate all the replies and just got off the phone with Drew @ EVO and he suggested that 4:88 was what they installed the most for 35s. Their $999.00 gear special is hard to ignore. Thanks...

Tim, I will concede that there is always the possibility of going to 37s later, especially after you run another ATX special.....

No shit! Cost me $1100o to have mine done and that was me buying the parts ($550) and having a buddy install them for the cost of buying the tools he needed to do it. Even Tribe 4x4 gets like $1700-$1800 for both axles, which is still pretty decent.
