Default Another JK Spring/Shock/Spacer Thread

I've been combing the forum and I need clarification for those that have done it or seen it done. (noob)

I have the highest spring rate JKU Rubi Springs and the shocks.
My JK has the lowest spring rate.

I want to run a coil spacer as well.
My JK is on 33's currently and will be making the move to 35's after the lift. My gearing is 4.10s.

What size spacer do I need to get the stance of a 2.5 to 3in lift?

Thanks in advance!

If you have stock springs you can add a 2.5 spacer you need shocks or shock extensions and the brake line extensions and the links for the front and bump stops. If you get a teraflex leveling kit two inches up front only gets you the longer links with it and you can use your stock shocks. Teraflex has both kits. hope this helps.

If your changing out the stock 2dr springs to the 19/60 Rubicon springs, you'll probably gain a couple of inches there. Then you'll most likely need 1.5" wheel spacers if your running the factory wheel to get 35's to clear.

Wouldn't he need some lift to get the 35's to clear though?

If you start with a Rubi (what he'll essentially have lift wise), you still need lift or some cutting to get the 35's to clear, you also need to cut the pinch seam in front of the rear tire as well.

I had a 2" lift on my rubi when I did 35's, I put spacers on & rubbed like all hell (ARB bumpers pull me down some too). I cut the fenders & that cut down the rubbing from REAL bad to minimal, then I added 2" spacers up front to level it with the rear, and now I only rub on the ARB, no longer on the fender.

Most say 2.5 should clear without cutting, for me, 2" didn't do the trick, but I'm sure that's because of the heavy bumper & winch.

I've got Mickey Thompson wheels and 33's now.

The springs are off of a JKU Rubi.

They're going on a JK with the lowest spring rate.
I'm just wondering if I will need spacers on the SPRINGS to gain some more lift.

I keep reading how people gain 2" from the springs alone, but I'm shooting for just under 3" due to the driveshaft

Here it is at stock height.

You'll need more than the tallest OEM coils and spacers to run 35s. Longer bump stops at the minimum or flat flares for starters.

The flares will be trimmed.

So how are ppl getting 35s on a 2.5 Teraflex? I'll have 2in in the coils and a little more with a spacer right?

There's more to fitting larger tires than just adding spacers and/or springs. You're only changing the ride height with only springs and/or spacers. That works when parked but not during suspension cycle. You need to limit up travel with the correct length bump stop. This keeps the fender intact, keeps the shock from bottoming out and keeps the coil from fully compressing. Not installing longer shocks with added lift you will have very little extension.

With flat fenders and the correct wheel backspacing you can run 35s with minor trimming and maybe add a small spacer so you don't lose most of the shock extension.

Spacers need to be thought of as ride height adjusters and not a lift, unless its a BB kit that has longer shocks, longer bump stops and other items. If you only want to fit larger tires it can be accomplished a couple ways. If you want a lift/suspension that performs great off road and on road you need to purchase one of the more complete kits to start with or do the math and put together components that will work in harmony.
