Default another question on gearing.. please help

I've been doing things a little backwards on my build. I completed stage 1 new smittybuilt front and rear bumpers and lod sliders (200 lb total). which i knew was going to add some major weight. but my problem now is that I CAN'T STAND the shifting out of OD to the passing gear on the highway. I took a trip this weekend in the hill county near Austin. TX but both ways shifting, shifting, shifting.. you get the point. ( 15.8 mpg / 70 mph.. 233 miles 3/4 tank round trip)

so.. can i regear now even though i still have stock wheels and tires, i'm sure that i'm going with 33 at this point with 2" lift. but that will be next year all my spending has been frozen( by the wife) were now saving for our yearly trip to thailand with a three day stop in japan.. can't wait!!

so 33 tires / gears 4.88 ?
35 tires / gears 5.38 or 5.13

i can deal with this anymore and going for FATHER'S DAY GIFT. hope it works..

I would suggest going all the way with gears so you dont have to pay to do it twice. If you are planning on going with 35"s at all in the future just jump to the 5.13s. You will like the added perfomance (even with stock tires) and the rpm at highway speeds will be tollerable.

what 09rubicon, get the 5.13's. that's what we did back in the day and loved them with 35's. the boost in power is well worth it

I am rolling 5.13's and 35s... And I think WOL agreed with me before when I said that the lower gearing should have been there from the factory. They are gearing these things too high, they respond really well to gearing lower than stock ratio.

To have close to stock ratio (for a rubicon) 5.13s would spin 37s almost exactly the same as the 4.10s spun the 32s. 4.88 would be closer with 35s to the stock ratio (although still a little lower) but I love the extra go. I went 5.13s with 37s in mind on the next tire swap, but now I don't want to go back to stock power. I think I will stay on 35s. The shop that did my gears asked me to meet with a guy so he could experience my gear ratio before he picked his, and he changed his mind on the spot and ordered 5.13s. He thought it would be too low, but said it was perfect.

What I am saying is go 5.13 never look back.
