Another RC lift thread with Questions
New Years Day was spend bonding with my son-in-law in his well equipped shop installing the Rough Country 2.5" Coil Lift with shocks and the RC Quick Disconnects.
I thought I would start this thread as I have some additional comments and questions that may help me and others.
The installation of the springs and shocks was pretty straight forward other than getting the springs in WITHOUT DROPPING THE TRACK BAR as indicated in the instructions takes some effort. We finally used a small bottle jack to push the axle down and got them in. Let me say that if you can pull it off....AIR TOOLS RULE!!!

Here is the side view after the lift and driving home. It is skewed by about one inch due to driveway incline, so don't be concerned with that, although it will make adjusting my headlights a problem since I used the driveway and garage door as my guide.

The mud is courtesy of my lovely bride who encouraged me to take a dirt road home and explore some mud puddles.
The front gained 3 full inches after the lift (3.5 on one side, 3 on the other, as the passenger side was about .5 lower than the drivers before and it was level after? Spring compression?)
Next.....the QD's

The Disco's created a dilema as the instructions were a bit vague and we ended up looking at the forum site to see what orientation looked correct. We think we have it, but here are a pic of each side so you can tell me if this looks correct.
Passenger Side
Drivers Side.
My concerns are as follows:
1) Double check the orientation of the hardware.
2) The QD's are made for 2 to 4 inch lifts, but there is no indication of which holes to use. (4 holes in each side for 3 possible lengths). I went with the middle setting assuming I had 3" of lift. However, the Jeep does feel just a touch more sway in corners, not much, but a little.
3) The clearance between the pins and coil spring seems pretty tight, but in the other position, it was impossible to remove the pins. Again, just cross check me here.
The other issue is that all 4 holes in each pair of attach points (not the center tube) had to be drilled out. At first, I thought it was simple the wrong pin, but it fit the center tube perfectly, then I thought it was the paint, but even tapping them lightly with a hammer didn't work. We finally found a drill bit that allowed for a tight fit, but still one that we could get in and out. Not sure what happened here, but pre-assembly helped us to discover this.

In conclusion, it took us 3.5 hours with a well-equipped shop and about 30 minutes researching the QD installation. I did not do the rear brake line extension at this time, but it definately will need it for full flex situaitons on my rig. I have the hardware and will probably get it done this weekend.
Would love the experts and especially the RC folks to chime in.
The ride is nice. Very much leveled out, and is firm without being harsh. I was concerned with this after other posts, but my wife's only complaint (at 5'0") was climbing up into it. But on the highway it handled well.
I will need to make a slight adjustment to the drag link, and headlights, but all in all, it was a doable install with reasonable mechanical skills. Plus, changing my diff oil will be a snap now.
Watch your brake lines and ABS wires, as they can get pulled loose if you are not careful.
Appreciate any and all advice.

Thanks for the heads up. My kit gets delivered tomorrow and then the wife has plans for the weekend. So.... looks like it may be next weekend before I can get to do the install.
I do have to check the height. I have to besure it doesn't raise it too much for me to be able to get under my hardtop in the garage to put it back on...
Hopefully someone will answer your questions, and nice dirt... I like that color!
Happy New Year!

bumping to get input from the experts. I can already see where one washer is installed in the wrong place on the drivers side....will fix that tomorrow. Please check my work. Thanks.
you should try setting your links so that when all is said and doen, your sway bar arms are sitting at about level to the ground if not just a hair above level. also, the extra sway in the corners is most likely a result of the hydro shocks that come with the kit.
Thanks for that info. I tried to put them near level, so that part I got right. Mostly I am concerned that the orientation looks correct (I used the write ups in the Project JK section with the TF QD's as a reference).
I will fix the one washer this weekend, recheck clearances and re-tighten everything just to be sure, but I think I am good to go based on that bit of info you gave me.
