Default Anybody Pull the Back Seat and Install a Flat Surface/Floor/Bed?

Nobody ever rides in the back, so I was throwing around an idea today. I was thinking about removing the rear seat, and building a flat bed, maybe out of diamond plate aluminum, sort of like a truck bed. Maybe add some recessed tie-down loops, or put the whole thing on a track system that rolls out the back, with another bed/surface underneath-like a trundle bed.

I don't know, I'm just thinking of things because I'm always folding up the rear seat to pack a bunch of stuff in the back.

I haven't seen anything like that yet; I could have missed it though.

I really like the roll out idea and would be interested in what you come up with.

I've pulled the back seat as it's useless and just gets in the way. If you get around to building something, make sure you do a write-up and post some pics!

The back seat does suck doesn't it. The back seems to set up too straight. It needs to be adjustable. I have been thinking of taking mine out and replacing it with an after market one.

Yarding out the seat and putting a bed in the back is an awesome idea. I would just custom fab a plywood box and cover it with black speaker cabinet carpet, maybe make it with little lids on either side for storage underneath. Then just throw in one of those twin foam camping mattresses and you are set.

I pulled my rear seat(to discourage passengers other than the boss) and installed a wooden storage box from my previous YJ. It provides pretty good storage for the essentials and locks down for a little security. It is smaller than the rear compartment(YJvsJK) but allows for stuffing of soft stuff around it. I cover it with a rubber backed carpet runner the same color as the carpet. It looks better and also is nice to have for lying on the ground for repairs or to use as a winch cable blanket.

I haven't figured out the pics yet but if you're interested I'll give it a try.
