I wouldn't trust it.

You really can't turn your wheels and I would be afraid of busting off my lugs. They have been around for many years and never took off for a reason.

I can't watch the video but is this similar to on dually military trucks when they run a line between the tires and let it win up to pull itself out?

Just watched it and it is a drum of cable that attatches to the wheel studs and as your wheel turns the cable spools up.

Around here they use them to winch deer and elk out of deep canyons but not vehicles.

Just the idea sounds like its hard on equipment, and highly unsafe. I'll take my 9.5Ti.

I'm not sure the wheel's bolts, differential and everything attached to them are dimensioned to pull the whole vehicle's weight through a single wheel. The weight is normally distributed among the four wheels.

This is a very old design used on military vehicles and Land Rovers and has been used for at least 50 years. Do a search for Hubbytrax.
