Default Anyone know of a half rack?

Hey guys,
I am on a chase of the wild goose variety. I will be buying a rack but I am looking for one that would look alot like the MBRP one where it would cover the back half but leave the front half of an unlimited open. The tricky part is that I want to be able to run the softtop, so the MBRP is out. Anyone seen a rack that fits the description?

The Bestop Cargo tray works with the soft-top when altered a little. It's so darn useful that every 4-door should have one for the extra storage. A couple more photos and my write-up is on https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...t=bestop+cargo

I normally get a full rack.

All kidding aside, you can probably fabricate something, but it'll likely have to be attached to the body since there's nowhere to attach the forward mounting points with a soft top, unless you go to the A-pillars. The B-pillars are too narrow and will probably look awkward, so you'll need to attach to the rear quarter panel, near the door and go up. The rear mounting points can be attached as all others - either on the rear panel or the bumper ends.

Good luck. I'd like to see what you come up with, since I'd be interested in something like this also. I'm looking at the LOD bumper since it has tons of attachments including the rack above the tire. That seems to be my only option at this point, unless I go custom.

Thumbs up Gobi

Check out the Gobi rack. I have one and love it. It is incredibly well made with no seams at all. It is rock solid, well thought out and all of the hardware is SS. The stock rack only has a bottom over the back half. The rack is completely open over the front but they sell an optional piece that covers the front. The rack attaches with zero drilling and will work with any top configuration you want. It even comes with a cool little ladder that mounts on the back (not really necessary but very cool). I really can't say enough about how they thought of all the little details like rub plates and slots instead of holes. All in all, I don't regret a penny I spent on the rack.
