Default Anyone run into this while regearing?

2013 JK

After regearing... didn't procal change it right away... Engine light came on and we coded it... Its P0731 which is Gear Incorrect... It sent the Jeep into Limp Mode/Reduced RPM's... Drive over to Jeep dealership and they said to discount battery wires and hold together for 15 secs... Reconnected wires and then Jeep starts up and shuts off deliberately.... Hooked battery box up to it with no joy but battery box works on other batterys... Call over to jeep dealership and they are giving me the run around... I finally just told them to put my buddy on the phone thats a mechanic there because they have no idea whats going on in service.... He says most likely, my Jeep went into Theft Mode because when I reset the battery it reset the computer... INCLUDING MY KEYS SO IT DOESN'T REMEMBER IT AND THINKS ITS GETTING STOLEN... Hence why it shuts off after a few seconds when it recognizes it doesn't know the key and thinks its getting stolen... My wheels are all locked and so is steering... Towed it to the dealership and waiting to see whats really wrong but pretty sure its the theft mode thing.

Anyone else have this happen?

My 2K bill just got bigger.

Sorry if some of this is unreadable... Been up for 47 hours at this point from working on the axle stuff.

Update:

Jeeps working again and it was all covered under warranty! It ended up being the Theft Mode thing. Apparently in the 2013 model Wrangler's, you have to reprogram the Jeep before you drive it so it won't throw you into Limp Mode since the Jeep's computer recognizes the different gear ratio as soon as you start driving it unlike the older models.

Now I'm having another problem since the regear.....

I have been following the instructions of the "Break In Period" but when I go to accelerate from a stop, it feels like the gears are slipping and not grabbing immediately. Also when switching to Reverse a couple times it would go to Neutral instead. When I would place it back in Park and go back to Reserve after the mess up... It would finally go into Reverse properly. Thinking maybe my T-Case or Front Driveshaft since apparently at full droop... My Driveshaft hits on my exhaust pipe. No noticeable damage when inspecting the Driveshaft tho. Anyone else have any experience with gears feeling like they are slipping after a regear?

A local shop, everything was done exactly right. I was there helping for the whole process and it was all checked by instruments to ensure we had all the numbers correct like Backlash and etc. I don't think its the gears but I don't know for sure either. My Jeep has been sent back to the shop for now to be checked over but I know this is not common at all.

This all sounds like a transmission issue to me. Have you programmed the Jeep with the new gear ratios yet? Since you said you had the "gear incorrect" error message I'm wondering if something in the transmission got messed up?

This is what happened to me...I purchased my gears, at the time I didn't have the cash to get them installed. I came across a guy at work (I'm in the military) that was a mechanic and said he would do them for 200 an axle. I was just about to pull the trigger on it and 4wheel parts were so happen to be running a special that month for 250 and axle. So my thought process was I'll let a shop do it. And thank goodness I did cause it turned out the gears I had got from them were wrong, well at least one of them was. I ordered 5.13 gears, which both boxes said 5.13 gears, but one of them was actually a different size gear. The point is I don't think the guy from work would have caught that detail... But 4wheel parts were great, they reviewed my account and verified I bought it from them and reordered the correct one even though it was awhile since I purchased them (like 9 months). Got the install done and no issues.

Could had been, we drove around for 15 miles to test drive it. All was done at low speeds and no hard acceleration. It was revving up and we reprogrammed after the 15 mile slow ride when the engine light popped on. Maybe that 15 miles messed it up. I'll update the thread when my local shop looks it over. Will prob end up taking it into the Stealership if we can't figure it out and have them look over the transmission.

With the 2012 and up JK you absolutely need to adjust the gear ratio with the Procal or another tuner to prevent issues just like this from happening.
