Don't know about the ATR's but I had Discoverer AST's on my TJ and they wore out really quickly. I didn't get 25,000 miles out of them before I had to replace them. They were good tires traction wise but not wear wise.

The ATR's are a great snow tire. Lots of sipes and such. They should do great in the sand.
