ARB Compressor--external take or not
greetings--
Im running the ARB CKMA12 on my JKU with 35" tires.
what is the benefit of adding an external take for the compressor? will the tires air up faster? or is it just so the compressor is running less?
I'm looking at Viair tanks on the 2 to 2.5 gallon range.
thanks
Steve

Initially there's more air CFM, until the pressure goes down, but that's presuming that the tank is fully pressurized before starting. If the tank leaked down, airing up will probably take longer. A compressor with an automatic pressure shut-off will run longer, and stay off longer as the (tank) volume increases. I don't think it's worth the space or weight for tires, but for other stuff a tank is necessary.
If adding a tank had some benefit....like being able to run air tools, then it might be worthwhile. Unfortunately, as explained above, they add but a fart in the wind in the big picture. Just not worth the $ or space to house them, especially if someone has a compressor with 100% duty cycle.
It would cost more, but the space allocation would be better suited to CO2. which would be useful for both tools and filling tires if the compressor failed.
