Default Which armor add-ons are required for Rock Protection?

I have a new Rubicon on order and I'm wondering if there is anything under the Jeep that comes unprotected from the factory... In other words, do I need to purchase any additional armor to help protect any components the Rubicon does not protect with OEM skid plates?

Also, when it comes to armor, do all vendors pretty much provide equal protection or is there one that is far superior to the others?

Thanks

The factory plates are not sufficient. Check out Evo's skids. Northridge 4x4 has a special right now. I have River Raider and am impressed with it.

I gave it my best shot and made a skid for my evap canister. I've beat the factory skids up pretty good and they haven't done too bad, but if you just have to spend some money there are some good one's out there such as the Evo products line. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Being that you have a "new" Rubicon on order, I can tell you that the oil pan down to the tranny is NOT protected and should be. I would highly recommend that you get an EVO ProTek skid system for them. Otherwise, the factory gas tank skid, t-case skid and even evap skid will do the job just fine.

Here's a write-up too:

funny, i have been beating the crap out of my factory skid plates for almost 6 years now and they still do the job just fine. in fact, i have yet to hear of a single instance where a factory skid plate has failed. sure, they get beat up but that doesn't mean they aren't doing their job.

What about the pumpkins? Any additional protection needed there?

"needed"? i don't know if i'd go so far as to say anything is needed but, diff covers do look cool, are relatively cheap and will offer more protection and so, it wouldn't hurt to have.
