Aussie Locker in the winter
I'm wondering if a rear axle aussie locker will adversely affect my driving in the winter. I live in Pennsylvania and there are a lot of icy days in the winter and the last thing I want is for my daily driver to kick me around when it gets slick. I've heard that the aussie locker is something you wouldn't want on the ice.
I realize that if I were to install a front aussie locker then the jeep would want to stay straight when turning which is why I'm not entertaining the idea of mounting it in the front.

The main problem in the rear is crabbing on slick surfaces as both rear wheels break traction. Its nothing you could not overcome with some common sense, a light throttle, and a bit of driving skill.
Keep in mind that the shorter the wheelbase the easier it is to spin out on slippery roads. I can remember spining around 3 or 4 times on the freeway durring a snow storm in my friends CJ growing up; that was freaky.
You could probably get away with the locker in the back out west. I no longer live back east, but I have in the past. I would urge you to drop the bucks on a selectable locker. I know it's a good bit more money but I think it's well worth it.
