Default Auto Locker

Time for a regear and I'm weighing my options and trying to stay in budget. I'm pretty set on a Detroit trutrac for the front. For the rear I'm thinking of going with a Yukon Grizzly. For those with a 2 door, manual transmission...how is the behavior on the street??

I have Yukon Grizzly lovers front and rear on my 4 door manual JK. I would assume regardless of 2 or 4 door the behavior would be the same. Biggest would be manual vers auto trans I bet.

Ok, both lockers make a clicking sound during turning in the driveway, parking lots etc. any turning at low speed and they will make a clicking sounds. It's not very loud at all. Next is with the manual trans you will feel a delay as the locker needs to rotate some before it rotates the axles. Only time I notice this is during reverse.

Since I have one up front I can hear a little bit of backlash in the locker when shifting in the lower gears.

My biggest complaint is 1st gear making slow turns on pavement around 1500-2000 rpms. What happens is the wheel speeds are not different enough for the locker to dis-engage, makes the Jeep buck back and forth during the turn. I have been able to manage this with lower speeds/rpms. Any other time I'm pretty happy with them and don't even know it's there most of the time.

Once off-road you don't even know they are there.
